Sol AI, defined

What is Sol AI?

Sol AI, by Modular Intelligence, is a team of four AI agents that watch a solar fleet across 18 inverter brands from one screen. Every night it checks each site against what it should have produced in that day's weather, puts a dollar figure on every shortfall, ranks the fleet worst-first, and keeps each problem open until production really recovers.

It is for anyone responsible for many solar systems at once: installers, O&M providers, site owners and lenders. It sits on top of the portals you already use and answers one question each morning — which sites are losing the most money, and why.

How it works

Five steps, every night.

  1. Step 1

    Connect, read-only

Sol AI reads each system through its inverter maker's own cloud, with read-only access from the account holder. Nothing is installed on site and nothing is written back to the equipment.

  2. Step 2

    Learn each site

From the day a site is connected, Sol AI learns what that site should make in its own weather. By the end of the first week it has a baseline.

  3. Step 3

    Check every night

Each night it compares every site — and every string, where the inverter reports them — with what it should have produced that day. A system can be online and still quietly missing a third of its output; this is how that gets caught.

  4. Step 4

    Price and rank

Each problem gets a figure in dollars lost per day, and the list is sorted most expensive first. The first truck goes where it earns the most.

  5. Step 5

    Verify the fix

A problem stays open after the repair visit. It closes only when the site's own production shows the fix worked — marked verified, with a date on both ends.

AI agents on your team

The four agents.

Each one has a single job. Together they cover a site from the day it is switched on to the day a repair is proven.

Onboarding agent

Starts watching a new site the day it's switched on.

The day a site comes online, the Onboarding agent starts reading it. By the end of the first week it knows what that site should make in its own weather.

Baseline ready — week one

Performance agent

Every night, checks every site and string against what it should have made.

Every night it compares every site against what it should have produced that day — down to each string (a row of panels wired together) where the inverter reports them. It prices each problem — “losing $28 a day” — and puts the most expensive first.

Losing $28 a day

Case agent

Owns each problem until the site proves it's producing again.

Each problem gets a case, and the Case agent keeps it open after the repair visit. It closes only when the site's own production shows the fix worked — “Fixed ✓ verified”.

Customer agent

Answers the plant owner's questions on WhatsApp, 24/7.

It answers the owner's questions about their own system on WhatsApp, any hour, from live plant data, and sends alerts and reports on the same thread. Like an engineer on call for every plant, all day, every day.

What it is not

Plainly, so nobody is surprised.

  • Not hardware. Nothing is installed on site.
  • Not a field-service company. We find and price the problem; your crew or your O&M provider fixes it.
  • Not a production guarantee or an insurer.
  • Not a maintenance (CMMS) system, and it never controls or changes settings on the equipment.
  • Not related to other products named Sol or Sol AI. This one is solar fleet monitoring, by Modular Intelligence, at solconnect.ai.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What is Sol AI?

Sol AI, by Modular Intelligence, is a team of four AI agents that watch a solar fleet across 18 inverter brands from one screen. Every night it checks each site against what it should have produced in that day's weather, puts a dollar figure on every shortfall, ranks the fleet worst-first, and keeps each problem open until production really recovers.

Who makes Sol AI?

Modular Intelligence. Sol AI came out of running a solar installation company, ran on that company's own fleet first, and has been in production for over a year. It now watches 636 systems across 10 organisations, 21 MW in total.

Which inverter brands does Sol AI work with?

18 brands: Enphase, SolarEdge, Tesla, SMA, Fronius, CPS, Sol-Ark, Generac, GoodWe, Sungrow, Huawei, Fox, Solis, Growatt, SolaX, Solarman, SAJ and MaxPower. All of them appear in the same fleet view and the same ranked list. See every brand →

How is Sol AI different from the inverter maker's own app?

A maker's app shows that maker's systems, one site at a time or in its own fleet view. Sol AI puts every brand in one list, compares each site with what it should have made in that day's weather, prices each shortfall in dollars a day, and keeps each problem open until production shows the repair worked. See the comparisons →

Does Sol AI fix the problems it finds?

No. Sol AI finds the problem, says what it is likely to be and what it costs, and checks afterwards that the fix held. The repair itself is done by the installer or O&M provider. Sol AI does not guarantee production.

How much does Sol AI cost?

We quote per fleet, in writing, after a 20-minute call — it depends on how many sites you have and what is on them. Book a call, or email [email protected].
