Modular Intelligence

AI that runs solar companies.

Not software that helps. AI that does the work, built for solar installers. It answers every lead in a median of 23 seconds and monitors every installed system down to the individual string. We run our own solar company on it, which is the only proof that counts.

Shams

The sales agent that never sleeps

Shams answers every lead in seconds. It reads electricity-bill photos, transcribes voice notes, sizes the system, negotiates inside hard-coded guardrails, and delivers a proposal in a median of 7 minutes. 4,198 real leads handled. The US version ships SMS-first with TCPA compliance built in.

Sol AI

A digital twin of every system you've installed

One dashboard for every brand. Weather-adjusted expected output per site and per string. Faults classified with a dollar figure attached, and homeowners told in plain language. Turn your install base into $15–25/month care plans; we charge $1.50/system.

How Sol AI works →

Every app showed green. $260 a month was walking out the door.

A 29-kilowatt residential system. One string disconnects. The manufacturer's app: green. Sol AI's baseline: 54 kWh missing every day — roughly $260/month of silent loss the homeowner would never have found. Multiply by every roof you've ever touched. That's the service business hiding inside your install base.

Why now

The market just changed shape.

Installs are down ~15% in 2026.

The federal tax credit for purchased home systems expired. Survivors have to cut labor cost now.

The installed base only grows.

5M+ US solar homes need watching for 25 years, and that number rises every year even in a down market.

Orphaned fleets are everywhere.

Installer bankruptcies strand homeowners. Whoever can monitor any brand instantly inherits those customers.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What is Shams?

Shams is an AI sales agent for solar companies. It answers inbound leads in a median of 23 seconds around the clock, reads electricity-bill photos, transcribes voice notes, sizes the system, negotiates inside hard-coded guardrails, and delivers a proposal in a median of 7 minutes. It has handled 4,198 real leads in production.

What is Sol AI?

Sol AI is a monitoring platform that builds a digital twin of every solar system an installer has put in, across every inverter brand, in one dashboard. It calculates weather-adjusted expected output per site and per string, classifies faults with a dollar figure attached, and explains them to homeowners in plain language. It currently watches 464 systems totalling 13.9 MW, polled roughly every 11 minutes.

How fast does Shams respond to solar leads?

Median first response is 23 seconds, with a 90th percentile of 31 seconds, measured across 4,019 first-response intervals with no trimming. That speed holds outside business hours: 55.65% of leads arrive after hours, and 94.4% of those get a reply within 60 seconds versus 94.5% during business hours.

What inverter brands does Sol AI support?

Sol AI reads 9 inverter brands in production today: GoodWe, Sungrow, Huawei, Fox, Solis, Growatt, Solarman, SAJ and MaxPower. Only brands with a working adapter running in production are listed — planned integrations are shown separately and never counted as supported.

Does Sol AI work with Enphase and SolarEdge?

Enphase and SolarEdge are in integration, built together with the founding partner cohort rather than claimed in advance. Founding partners shape those adapters against their own fleets and get them first. They are not live today, and Sol AI does not list them as supported.

Do I need new hardware for Sol AI?

No. Sol AI connects to each inverter manufacturer's cloud platform through its API, using a credential you authorise once per brand. Nothing is installed at a site — no data logger, no gateway, no local network configuration — so bringing an existing fleet online is a credential exchange rather than a truck roll.

Is AI safe to let talk to my customers?

Only with guardrails you can audit. Every outgoing message from Shams passes a pre-send guardrail layer before it is sent: in a five-week production sample it logged 1,630 interventions, rewrote 49% of messages, and blocked 196 absolute price leaks and 21 premature discounts. The log is readable, which is the only thing that makes the assurance worth anything. Unusual cases still go to a human — 95% of conversations complete without one, and the remaining 5% is where the hard ones live.

Is this TCPA compliant?

The US version of Shams ships SMS-first with TCPA compliance built in: consent capture, quiet hours, opt-out handling, and audit logs. Web chat and Messenger are available alongside SMS, and SMS activates as carrier registration clears.

How do solar installers build recurring revenue?

By selling monitoring and care plans on systems they have already installed, typically $15-25 per home per month. The install base is already paid for, so the only new cost is the monitoring platform — Sol AI charges $1.50 per system per month — and the spread is recurring margin on completed work. A 400-system base at $20 per month is $96,000 a year against $7,200 of cost.

Who is Modular Intelligence?

Modular Intelligence is the company behind Sol AI and Shams, founded by Mujtaba Raza. It was built inside Solar Citizen, a solar installation company operating across 11 cities in Pakistan, and its software has run that company's sales and service end to end since February 2026. It is now bringing the platform to US installers, starting in New York.
